Gpredict is distributed as source by the project and packaged for several operating systems by third parties.

The Gpredict project publishes source archives. Distribution, Flatpak, MacPorts, and Homebrew packages are maintained by their respective communities.

Official · source

Release archive

Download the project-provided tarball from GitHub Releases. Use the named Gpredict archive rather than GitHub’s automatically generated source snapshots.

Third-party · Linux

Flathub

A Flatpak build is available through Flathub. Confirm the listed version and permissions on the package page before installing.

Third-party · macOS

MacPorts or Homebrew

Both package managers carry Gpredict. Their maintainers control binary availability, updates, and platform support.

Build from source

A conventional GTK build.

Development headers are required in addition to the runtime libraries. The exact package names vary by operating system and distribution.

From a release archive

Unpack the Gpredict release tarball, configure it, compile it, then install it. The install step may require elevated privileges.

tar -xvf gpredict-2.6.tar.bz2
cd gpredict-2.6
./configure
make
sudo make install

From the Git checkout

A repository checkout uses autogen.sh in place of configure. Pass the same prefix or feature options to autogen.sh when needed.

git clone https://github.com/csete/gpredict.git
cd gpredict
./autogen.sh
make

Debian / Ubuntu build dependencies

The repository README currently gives this package set as a starting point for Debian-based systems.

sudo apt install libtool intltool autoconf automake libcurl4-openssl-dev
sudo apt install pkg-config libglib2.0-dev libgtk-3-dev

Install without system-wide access

Set a custom prefix during configuration to install under a directory you can write to.

./configure --prefix=$HOME/gpredict
make
make install
